Valentine's

Happy Belated Valentine's Day. I know it's late but what can I say. No real excuse. I'm busy being a mom and trying to get things caught up before I leave the temp job.

I hope that your Valentine's Day was as romantic as you wanted it to be. Unfortunately, I didn't marry a romantic person. I was browsing blogs and saw a cute tradition on several different ones. They would stay in and make a heart-shaped meatloaf and a heart shaped cake. I thought it was a great idea. I knew the restaurants would be packed this year with it being on a Saturday.

I went to Wally World and bought all my supplies and headed home to start baking. Carmon called and said his mom wanted us to come and eat at her house (ON Valentine's Day...EERRR) because she had went to get his uncle from the nursing home. I hesitated at first, but gave in because we hadn't seen him in a while.

I planned the meatloaf and cake for Sunday. Here is what we got:

The cake. Aren't my skills great?
I know, you can laugh.
Before baking:After:

All in all it all turned out good. To make the heart-shaped cake (because I KNOW you all will be making this your new tradition), you simply bake an 8" square cake and an 8" round cake, cut the circle in half, and place it next to the sides of the square one.....easy as, well, cake!
Haha.
I really do think this may become an every year tradition. I want traditions, things Cam can remember and carry on with his kids. As for going out, well we will be eating at the ever-so-scrumptious Shogun this weekend, without the 2 hour wait.

I am so doing the meatloaf thing next year. If Jeremy is good, he may get it on our anniversary too!
